To develop in aquarium visitors an awareness of the values and ethics that are inherent in human responsibility for environmental balance and to provide other aquariums, museums and schools with a working model for humanities-based marine education. Self-guided tour will be designed with the goal of communicating the general components of any environmental decision—history, values, ethics, and scientific principles—through the consideration of a specific environmental issue, Lake Michigan. Materials for the tour will be written at the 5th grade level; 5th and 6th graders will participate in the tour program and will evaluate it.
