To develop a cooperative relationship between pre- collegiate educators and university-based resources in order to improve multi-cultural education at the elementary and secondary level. BAYCEP has developed a variety of programs on Chinese culture and U.S.-China relations, including short-term teachers workshops, resource materials for teachers, and graduate student training seminars. In less than a year BAYCEP has reached over 4-000 students and 200 teachers in 58 schools. Over the next year BAYCEP will develop a formal evaluation mechanism, and will refine and expand its local programs.
