To study and document the diffusion of the works of the Spanish playwright Calderon in 17th century Holland and pre-romantic Germany. The study forms an important part of a larger project that would trace the history of Calderon in Germany from the dramatist's lifetime until the modern day, considering Calderon's impact on German theories of dramatic art, poetry, philosophy and music, particularly opera.
