FAIN: FA-11854-77

Jeffrey T. Titon
Tufts University (Somerville, MA 02144-2401)

To spend six months with a folk preacher the Rev. C.L. Franklin, and his congregation in Detroit studying the folk sermon, an improvised performance based upon one or two verses from the Bible. PI hopes to derive a theory which will be a model capable of using sermon elements to produce sermons by studying the text, tune, and performance contexts of Rev. Franklin's sermons.
