University of Wisconsin, Whitewater (Whitewater, WI 53190-1705)

To study the relationship of mannerism in Renaissance art to progressive tendencies in Renaissance music. An attempt will be made to find a common cause, to define mannerism as it may apply to music, and to determine if the term is helpful in understanding Renaissance music. Study will involve intensive reading in the field of art history and study of art history and study of music scores particularly of composers who may have had contact will mannerist artists.
