FAIN: FT-12620-75

William W. Clark
CUNY Research Foundation, Queens College (Flushing, NY 11367-1575)

To study the role of the bias-set capital in Anglo-Norman Romanesque vaults and in the Early Gothic buildings of Normandy. The term "bias-set capital11 refers to the position of the supporting capital beneath the diagonal ribs in a rib-vault. The PI will catalogue and photograph the Norman examples. This study will also shed some light on the developmental sequence of Early Gothic buildings in Normandy.
