To research, document , and interpret the history of the women who participated in the Alaskan-Canadian gold rush of the 1890's. To reveal their motivations for joining the gold rush and their experiences in gold rush territory as recorded in the original source material by the participants themselves. The project will re-examine an historical phenomenon with the purpose of exploring an aspect of the previously misrepresented or ignored subject of women in American history.
