To produce a narrative account and an academic paper that will focus on the black experience in America as experienced by the project director's ancestors. To involve more than 300 persons in exploring their collective racial identity and understanding their local history by applying the analysis of kinship as studied by anthropologists (and popularized by Alex Haley's Roots).
