A team of experts to assess and stabilize the historic mural and the purchase of supplies and equipment for mold abatement and other conservation activities.

The project would provide stabilization and repairs to a significant mural in Houston’s Blue Triangle Community Center, Contribution of the Negro Woman to American Life and Education, painted in 1953 by Houston artist John T. Biggers (1924-2001).  Painted directly on one of the building’s interior walls, the painting was damaged by leaks during Hurricane Harvey.  It is presently in a precarious state because of mold, lifting paint, and a weakened substrate to which the paint is applied.
