Regents of the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1015)
Karl L. Hutterer (Project Director: February 1977 to October 1990)

To restore a collection of historical photographs consisting of 4,775 negatives on 5X7 inch glass plates and nitrate-base film. The pictorial content consists of individuals and groups from different Philippine ethnic groups; their activities; items of material culture; landscapes and features of geographical and biological interest; and officials and institutions of the American colonial government. The project will: a) transfer all the photographic images onto modern negative film; b) conduct research into the historical background of the collection; and c) prepare a comprehensive catalogue for publication.
