To trace the economic success of different American immigrant groups, analyzing certain differences in family behavior and attitudes among ethnic groups from the rest of the population as factors in their rates of economic achievement. Family history techniques will be used to study three generations of representative sample families from the following ethnic groups: Jews, Armenians, Greeks, Italians, Irish Catholics, Polish Catholics, Chinese, Japanese, Blacks, and Puerto Ricans.
