Consultation with a conservator to produce a long-range plan for the preservation of 27,433 archaeological and ethnographic artifacts in the university's Museum of Anthropology.

The Museum of Anthropology will hire a conservator to work with staff in producing a long-range conservation plan for 27,433 archaeological and ethnographic objects. The conservator will visit the Museum to assess policies, practices, and conditions that affect the care and preservation of collections and will prepare a report that summarizes his findings and prioritizes recommendations for future preservation actions. The document will be a key element in developing a collections plan to focus collecting activities and guide controlled future growth and deaccessioning. It will guide development of a disaster plan and the design process for a storage facility to hold the collections, currently in crowded and unstable conditions.
