With the proposed Preservation Assistance Grant, the City of Mountain Home Historical Museum will conduct a preservation assessment of the museum's collections. The museum will also host a preservation workshop on-site. The museum's collections are historical in context and interpret the rich history and culture of Mountain Home, Idaho, and the surrounding region. The collections include an estimated 3,480 three-dimensional artifacts as well as a large collection of archival documents, photographs, newspapers, and maps. The goal of the preservation assessment is to take the information from the assessment and develop a long-range plan for the preservation of the museum's collections, as well as develop a policy for proper management of the collections. The goal of the on-site preservation workshop is to train staff, volunteers, and museum professionals in surrounding areas on how to properly care for humanities collections. |
