This project seeks funds to purchase flat file cabinets and map folders to rehouse blueprints and other large-scale archival documents from the Baltimore Museum of Industry's (BMI) Maritime Collections. These documents have been identified as a priority for their unique historical value and the risk of damage posed by their large size. Appropriate housing in flat files will ensure the preservation of these rare documents, integral to work on the BMI's National Historic Landmark Steam Tug Baltimore, her sister ship, the Pegasus (under restoration in New York) and other port-related documents that support BMI's interpretive mission and scholarly work in the field of maritime, immigration, industrial and technological history. |
