Online publication of the official inscriptions of the rulers of ancient Assyria, which are preserved on clay tablets and other artifacts. The project would also provide transliterations, translations, and bibliographic information.

The project will make available to scholars, students and the general public user-friendly editions of the official inscriptions of the rulers of ancient Assyria from 744 to 669 BCE. These will be of interest not just to individuals specializing in ancient Mesopotamia, but also to those interested in the ancient Near East in general, Biblical studies, classical studies, religious studies, archaeology and linguistics. This period saw the formation of a great empire that stretched from the Assyrian heartland in northern Iraq to Iran in the East and Egypt in the West. Most of the inscriptions are not available in up-to-date translations, or available only with great difficulty. The volumes will include transliterations (the rendition of the ancient cuneiform signs into the Latin alphabet), translations, bibliographical information, basic textual commentary and extensive indices; the online version will be fully searchable and have links to other online resources.
