12 months of stipend support (1 fellowship) per year for three years and a contribution to defray costs associated with the selection of fellows.

The Society for Classical Studies (hereafter SCS; formerly the American Philological Association, or APA) is the principal learned society in North America for the study of ancient Greek and Roman languages, literatures, and civilizations. The goal of this request from SCS is to fund Fellowships that will enable American scholars to engage in an international collaborative research project of a kind not available in this country: working for a year with foreign colleagues in the preparation of the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae (hereafter TLL) at the Thesaurus Institute in Munich, Germany. Between 1984 and 2014, the SCS has awarded thirty-one TLL Fellowships for work on the project. If NEH support for the TLL Fellowship is renewed, the Fellowship will continue to be administered by the SCS (principally through its Executive Director, Vice President for Publications and Research, and TLL Fellowship Advisory Board and Selection Committee).
