Production of six one-hour documentaries and a website on the plays of William Shakespeare.

"Shakespeare Uncovered" is a multi-part public television project on the Complete Plays of William Shakespeare. Coproduced by WNET and Blakeway Productions, with the participation of Shakespeare's Globe, and written and produced by Richard Denton, the series explores the text and context of Shakespeare plays in one-hour programs presented by legendary actors and directors. The first six programs, supported by NEH, will air on PBS in 2013. Funds are requested for Series Two--six one-hour programs covering "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Taming of the Shrew," "Romeo and Juliet," "The Merchant of Venice," "Antony and Cleopatra," and "King Lear." The PBS broadcasts will be accompanied by a rich Website and community outreach. Shakespeare Uncovered will introduce new audiences to the what, why and how of the plays, while thrilling those who know Shakespeare with new scholarship and insight. In time we plan to produce a third season so the series touches on all of Shakespeare's 37 plays.
