Humanities Ecuation Through Public Libraries: Community Programs Based on Courses by Newspaper Topics and Materials

To carry out a 19-month demonstration project which will enhance the ability of public libraries to act as linking agents between the American public and humanistic thought. Support will be given to selected public libraries to enable them to develop innovative adult programs in the humanities planned by community groups and humanists. The programs will be based on topics and material prepared by Courses by Newspapers. The experience of these demonstration libraries will be documented in an evaluative handbook, so that the programs can be replicated in other libraries.
