To provide training and teaching internships for Princeton University students at NJ community colleges in order to bridge the gap between humanities instruction on different parts of American higher education. Program will start with a 12-week colloquium taught by community college and Princeton faculty.

To provide training and teaching internships for Princeton University students at New Jersey community colleges. Aim is to bridge the gap between humanities instruction in different parts of American higher education, especially between universitys and two-year colleges. After a 12-week Colloquium, taught by community college and Princeton faculty, eight students will serve as teaching interns at the colleges, carrying approximately half of a normal load. They will be supervised by local faculty, and there will be continuous evaluation as to the success of their training. It is hoped this project can serve as a model for similar efforts elsewhere. If successful, it would become a permanent feature both at Princeton and the community colleges. Result: more effective humanities teaching at all education levels.
