The develop dance as an academic member of the humanities by increasing the availability of a vital curriculum material: good films of major dance works currently unavailable.

To aid the development of dance as an academic member of the humanities by increasing the availability of good films of major dance works. Funds will: (l) purchase film versions of various dance works that are currently on videotape, such as those created for PBS "Dance in America" series and thereby provide incentive for regular, general, commercial distribution on film of these materials; (2) purchase valuable dance film materials currently unavailable for various reasons; and, (3) support the addition of sound, the editing, and the getting into distribution of three very special films: a record film of Jose Limon's "The Traitor',' some 1903 footage of Bournonville choreography danced by the Royal Danish Ballet, and film of Ruth St.Denis.
