To support a program of interdisciplinary seminars, workshops, lectures, symposia and colloquia designed to provide a stimulus for advanced scholarship.

To strengthen and extend programs aimed at promoting advanced scholarship and teaching in the humanities by the Folger Institute of Renaissance and Eighteenth Century Studies of the Folger Shakespeare Library and seven major universities. The Institute seeks to provide a setting and a coherent cluster of programs to provide senior professors and young doctoral and post-doctoral scholar-teachers with study opportunities .
