To assist in the celebration of the bicentenary of the American Revolution, the American Philological Association is sponsoring a project which will focus public attention on the contribution of the classical traditions to the cultural and intellectual formation of early America, and will simultaneously seek to influence the scope and educational role of classical studies in the United States in the future. During the Bicentennial Year, a nationwide program of public lectures on the main themes of the project will be organized by the Association.
