Development of Consortium Latin American Studies Program

FAIN: EI-*1410-77

Consortium of Universities of Washington Area (Washington, DC 20036-2001)
Dorothy Dillon (Project Director: February 1977 to October 1990)

Consortium members (American, Georgetown, Catholic, George Washington and Howard Universities) seek to make the Washington area a leading center for Latin American studies through broadening and enriching present programs and bringing students into realistic contact with actual problems in Latin America. All five universities offer opportunities for area specialization, four offer Master's degree in Latin American studies and two others provide undergraduate majors. Each member will offer three new seminars and two workshops, one on the campus of each university. Seminars will study the Caribbean, Problems of Urbanization in Latin America, and the Role of the Military in Brazil's Development.
