To implement a 3-year program, focused on the theme of writing in Chicago, which will provide persons from the Chicago area with group and individual Educational activities in which to learn about writing in Chicago and, where appropriate, to attain academic recognition or credit for their learning. The sub-themes for these 3-years will be respectively: "Chicago and Its Literature in Retrospect", "Literary Perspectives on the Urban Experience in Chicago", and "Contemporary Chicago Writers and Their Works."
