To study and evaluate the effectiveness of film m Freshman Composition at an open admissions University. The use of short films is intended to effect a transfer of modal perceptions of pictorially oriented students to print media. The purpose of the project is to generate interest in a required course and also to facilitate the teaching of humanities and skills-oriented goals. The grant will allow for special in-service seminars and released time to view films, establish study guides for analogous approaches, and to organize ongoing evaluation of effectiveness of methods, sharing and comparing student output.
