To correct in the Humanities departments the problems of the limitations of the departmental approach to academic issues; the need to relate more coherently the thoughts and actions of past cultures to modern day issues and concerns, and; an overemphasis by many departments upon academic content to the exclusion of attention to effective communication by the students.
