CEMREL, a regional educational laboratory, will develop a program to retell myths and hero tales from the oral traditions of Sumer, Greece, Scandinavia, Britain, and Africa to elementary school pupils in 2 school districts in St. Louis. Project will produce a humanities program and associated teacher training which will supplement existing elementary school language programs. Storyteller-teacher will tell a story aloud and help children transcribe their own versions of it and present them to other children. Teachers Guide Implementation Guide, training videotape, and evaluation report will be produced.
