Institute on Western and Local History: Secondary School Teachers

To support an institute on western and local history for secondary school history teachers. Institute will he developed around four themes; 1) How to Use Local Primary Historical Materials, 2)Using Popular Arts to Understand Myth and Reality in the History Classroom: The Case of the West, 3) Contemporary Western Problems in Their Historical Context, 4) The Indians: Then and Now. Participants will he selected from five states; North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Montana. Curriculum materials developed in the Institute will he made available to secondary school teachers.
