To review American economic literature since 1900 in order to assess the effects of the recent dominance of mathematical method. To examine the thesis that reestablishing man and his behavior, aspirations, and values in the center of the stage of economics will render the subject more meaningful, useful and informative than it now is and also restore its relationship with the other social sciences and humanities to the benefit of all.
