The Concept of Political Authority

FAIN: FA-11082-75

Richard E. Flathman
Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD 21218-2608)

To conduct a philosophical inquiry concerning political authority. The aim of the inquiry is to heighten critical awareness and sharpen understanding of political authority and its places in and significance for political life. The study will proceed from and attempt to contribute to the development of epistemological and methodological assumptions that have emerged from the work of Wittgenstein and other major 20th century philosophers who have viewed their work primarily as a form of conceptual analysis.
