FAIN: FA-11118-75

Fred I. Dretske
University of Wisconsin, Madison (Madison, WI 53715-1218)

To study the theory of knowledge, with the intention of securing a 'working' theory of knowledge, which can be of real use in scientific inquiry. The aim of such a study will be to promote a more fruitful exchange between epistemology and those scientific studies (e.g. cognitive psychology and computer science) that depend on a clear understanding of such key epistemological notions as perception, message, memory, recognition, information and cognitive process.
