To examine the impact of industrialization on family life by comparing the experiences of owners and laborers in the woolen industry in Reims, France during the 19th century. The primary goal of this to provide detailed historical evidence which will illuminate the differences between working class and middle class family organization and which will delineate the changes in family organization and in family values brought about by technological and economic change.
