To work on the second of two volumes on the German statesman, Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898). It will be more than a biography: namely an analysis of the interaction between a statesman of genius and the historical forces with which he dealt; how the latter influenced his actions and were in turn warped and changed by the combinations he achieved in both domestic and foreign affairs.
