FAIN: FA-11786-77

Ronald H. Paulson
Yale University (New Haven, CT 06510-1703)

To study how the experience and idea of revolution were represented in words and images. The specific focus will be the years following 1789. Study will consider Burke and Paine, Blake and Rowlandson, Gillray and Fuseli, M.G. Lewis and William Godwin; Goya and Turner, and will determine how they developed new iconographies to meet changing situations, and what part the old had in these new formulations.
