Unaffiliated independent scholar
William D. Andrews (Project Director: September 1972 to present)

To study the "domestic transformation" of society that occurred in America in the nineteenth century. P.I. by use of home manuals and treatises on domestic architecture hopes to produce for his students and himself a renewed sense of the value of interdisciplinary work in the humanities, a fuller comprehension of the domestic transformation of society reflected in literature, and a reaffirmation of the relevance of the past.
