To explore the nature and social uses of metaphor and rhetoric. To interpret the cybernetic metaphor which appears to be the basis for an emerging re-symbolization of order in modern industrial societies. An adequate analysis of this metaphor, plus the rhetoric of societal order, would comprise important contributions to the sociology of order and integration.
