To examine the ways in which aesthetic interests are handled in civil law system, particularly in Switzerland (one of the most advanced countries in Western Europe) and to explore to what extent they are adaptable to the common law system of the U.S. A small amount of scholarly attention has been devoted specifically to aesthetic concerns in the environment in the U.S., but it has not heretofore been extensive or well-done.
