To study A.S. Khomiakov's (1804-1860) poetry and the impact of his literary heritage on contemporary Russian literature and Russian thought. This aspect of the great Slavophile's work cannot be seriously studied in his own country due to the hostility of official Soviet ideology to the Slavophile movement. It also has been neglected by Western scholarship.
