Forms of Address in Portuguese

To investigate the complex and often subtle Brazilian Portuguese system of choosing second-person pronouns. The project will be carried out primarily through a linguistic questionnaire administered in interviews with a few hundred informant in several locations in Brazil. This project will enhance a particularly fertile area for the interpretation of the humanities, as it involves the analysis and description of a series of phenomen of immense importance in social relationships.
