FAIN: FB-12372-75

John G. Brawley
Erskine College (Due West, SC 29639-9000)

To consider some practical aspects of the technique of Fauxbourdon. Performance possibilities of Fauxbourdon compositions will be studied with attention particularly to situations which suggest deviation of the derived voice from strict parallelism with its parent voice. Fauxbourdon1 s influence on renaissance music will also be examined. Musicological literature dealing with Fauxobourdon will be studied as 15th century music literature not using Fauxbourdon technique.
