FAIN: FB-12664-75

Study is the epistemology of Kant, Hegel, and Marx in an attempt to explore and understand how these theories of knowledge have influenced and limited literary criticism. There is no doubt that the theory of knowledge expressed by Kant had an influence (directly or indirectly) on the literary theory of English romantic writers, and his continued vitality is shown in works of recent critics. This study strives to understand the interaction of philosophy and literature as well as to explore the possibility of seeking new theoretical bases for literary study-bases that will allow for both a closer and broader relationship between man's literary productions and his other human actions.
