To study the evolution and development of ancient medicine and how it was preserved, transmitted, and synthesized during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Among aspects considered will be population data, birth and death rate statistics, the influence of disease on the course of history, and medical techniques employed throughout the centuries.
