FAIN: FF-10340-74

Donald Kagan
Yale University (New Haven, CT 06510-1703)

To study the outbreak of four wars: the Peloponnesian War, the Second Punic War, the First World War, and the Second World War, as well as the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, a menacing situation that might have led to war but did not. The purpose is to apply a comparative method to the study of this critical problem in the history of human affairs. The method employed will be that of humanistic historical research, employing the analysis of both original and secondary sources.
