Lawyers and Justice in American Society

FAIN: FP-10127-77

Jerold S. Auerback
Wellesley College (Wellesley, MA 02481-8203)

To encourage lawyers and judges to reflect upon the broader social implications, for justice, of their individual professional activities. The disciplines of history, sociology, and literature will be applied to illustrate the development of the legal profession in the 20th century, the social structure of the bar, and the implications of that history and structure for a primary American value — equal justice under law.
