FAIN: FS-*0009-78

Yale University (New Haven, CT 06510-1703)
Fred C. Robinson (Project Director: May 1977 to October 1990)

To study the several ways in which literary interpretation depends upon one's awareness of the nature and history of the language in which the literature is written. The seminar will draw on literature of all genres written in English between 1600 and the present day. The seminar will increase the precision and validity of the participants' explications of literary texts by demonstrating the interdependence of literary and linguistic study.
