To explore relationships between American historical and cultural experiences and the formation of folk traditions. Topics such as colonization, slavery, the westward movement, immigration, and urbanization will be considered for their producing of legendary traditions. Research papers will deal with American traits, symbols, codes and character types as expressed in folk materials.
