The seminar will explore the "Social World" of early Christian groups. It intends to test the utility for historical research of certain sociological and anthropological theories, and to provide an interdisciplinary exchange for two kinds of participants: (1) teachers trained in traditional New Testament exegesis and (2) classicists and historians of antiquity.
