To study the history of Israel in the light of literary traditions preserved both in the Bible and in Ancient Near Eastern sources. Seminar will strive for an appreciation of the major phases of Ancient Near Eastern history as viewed by ancient historiography as well as by modern scholarship and of Israel's place in each phase.
