Study of directing and acting techniques currently employed in British productions of the traditional English drama of the 16th and 17th centuries and in productions of recent English drama as exemplified by such playwrights as Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard. Fellow hopes to discover how directors and actors approach their work in each style, noting where they use similar or identical procedures and where they change their methodology to fit particular stylistic problems. Fellow to apply his findings to the productions under his supervision as Director of the Vanderbilt Theater.
