To study the region of Northeastern Honduras with respect to certain archaeological and anthropological questions dealing with various situations of culture contact. Since N.E. Honduras lies on the frontier between two major spheres of cultural influence, it is an ideally suited area from which to formulate general cultural laws dealing with societal reactions to stimuli of various kinds. This research will not only help to complete a major archaeological project, but it will enable a fuller understanding of New World prehistory and Pre-Columbian cultural development.
